SEASIDE CARAVAN (2009)

MONEY (COULAM)

There’s no money, in poetry
There’s no poetry, in money

There’s no money, in beauty
There’s no beauty, in money

Money come, money go
Money yes, money no
Money stop, money flow all the time

Money here, money gone
Money off, money on
Money all, money none all the time

There’s no money, in freedom
There’s no freedom, in money

Money come, money go
Money yes, money no
Money stop, money flow all the time

Money here, money gone
Money off, money on
Money all, money none all the time

If you wanna feel rich, count the things you have, that money can’t buy
Live as if money is nothing, love as if you’ve never been hurt
Sing as if no one’s listening, go out in the world and make yourself heard

There’s no money, in music
There’s no music, in money

Money come, money go
Money yes, money no
Money stop, money flow all the time

Money here, money gone
Money off, money on
Money all, money none all the time

Money come, money go
Money yes, money no
Money stop

THE BALLAD OF OUR GYPSY BONES (TINDALL)

Sigh again, we’re nobody’s kin
Sigh again, we’re nobody’s kin
We’ve been waiting such a long time
For someone to turn us on
Sigh again, we’re nobody’s kin
Sigh again, we’re nobody’s kin

Well she moves so slowly
Diggin’ through the night she got
Long legs, big eyes
Oh lord she’s gonna eat me alive
Well my gypsy mamma owns me
Turns me on and lifts away my soul
This is what she said

Sigh again, we’re nobody’s kin
Sigh again, we’re nobody’s kin

She says it’s never easy
To close your eyes and dream
Free love, free of war
Live it now, you’re gonna live it some more
Yeah we’re walking proud you see
Not killin’ to eat, not killin’ for peace oh yeah
This is what she said

Sigh again, we’re nobody’s kin
Sigh again, we’re nobody’s kin
We’ve been waiting such a long time
For someone to turn us on
Sigh again, we’re nobody’s kin
Sigh again, we’re nobody’s kin

ALCOHOL (TINDALL)

I got a little game
Call it drink and run
Well the one where you get to the bottom of a bottle
and then you run
I say A-LC-O-HOL and we’re all going to hell

Alcohol, yeah we’re getting buried at the bottom of a wishing well
Alcohol, yeah we’re getting drunk man, just like our daddies did
Oh well

Yeah my lover she morns me
When I’m dying in my bed
Every time I reach for the bottle
Well there’s nothing else left
I say A-LC-O-HOL and we’re all going to hell

Alcohol, yeah we’re getting buried at the bottom of a wishing well
Alcohol, yeah we’re getting drunk man, just like our daddies did
Oh well

NEVER GONNA GET AWAY AGAIN (TINDALL)

For the harvest moon she wakes her eyes
Smokes a pin and puts the devil on her mind
Yeah she moves slowly like a gypsy train because she’s never gonna get away again

When she was livin’ as a bitter child
They cooked her soul on an island mile
St. Vincent women always singin’ in her ear
You know you’re never gonna get away again

Concrete mile you see it in her eyes
Saffron skin from those Moroccan skies
Yeah my little lover does the midnight twist because she never ever gonna ever gonna get away from this
Still she prays
Never getting saved at the side of the road
Yeah my little lover does the midnight twist because she’s never gonna get away again

Well the city swells her weeks at a time
Burning coal from the engine line
Yeah she cries out in the middle of the night because she’s never gonna get away again

Get your island arms and live it again
You got your face on your belly and your belly is full of sin
If you ever see another with an X on her skin
You know you’re never gonna get away again

Would you spit to save me chew my line
Round about cure me with a liar’s eye
Standing on the nine with fists full of rain because you’re never ever gonna ever gonna get away from this
Still you pray
Never getting saved at the side of the road
Yeah my little lover does the midnight twist because she’s never gonna get away again

Last train calling you motion disease
Your head’s getting heavy because you’re so very hard to please
Well please Mr. National, give us some wine
Yeah we’re falling further ‘cause
We’re ever falling further into line
Well some day you’ll find us living in a garden home
Wait for day and pray for night
Never getting saved at the side of the road
Yeah my little lover does the midnight twist because we’re never gonna get away again

NIGHT TRAIN (TINDALL)

My lady she wants nothing at all
She wants me not to want anything at all
We’re leaving tonight, on a midnight train
Do you have anything, to say to your friends
Before we leave again

On the night train
Well it’s calling our name
On the night train
Well it’s calling on
It’s calling our name

Children all want jars of shiny rings
Love, well it’s not one of those
Kinds of empty things
We’re leaving tonight, on a midnight train
Do you have anything, to say to your friends
Before we leave again

On the night train
Well it’s calling our name
On the night train
Well it’s calling our name

Are we quite enough in love to suit the dying age we’re living in?
Time to come, all the love for one another
Now we’re finding it, we’re finding it

On the night train
Well it’s calling our name
On the night train
Well it’s calling on

ROCK AND ROLL SOUL
(COULAM)

There were villains in the valley
Tourists from the town
Cats from every alley
Jugglers and a clown
There were all the sea-sick sailors
Searching for their land-legs in the coal
They were all coming together
Just looking for their rock and roll soul

Rock and Roll, Rock and Roll Soul

There were artists and a harpist
Generals and a tramp
Roaches from the carpets man
Genies from the lamp
There was a stream of stricken soldiers
Crawling out deserting from their holes
They were all coming together
Just looking for their rock and roll soul

Rock and Roll, Rock and Roll Soul

There were lovers from all seasons
Dreamers from all lands
With or without reasons
Just sliding all the hands
There was a pair of peaceful pirates
Dancing with policemen round a pole
They were all coming together
Just looking for their rock and roll soul

Rock and Roll, Rock and Roll Soul

JIM CATHY GEORGIA JEVIL (TINDALL)

I got a little bird
She swings in her cage
Every time, yeah she sings
Well it sounds the same

Well she gets me running
Blood against my spine
Every time, here she comes
Well she caws my name

Well we’re not just birds of a feather now
We got something arranged
Yeah she flies high in the middle of the sky cause she knows we’re gonna make it in spades

Well she gets me running
Blood against my spine
Every time, here she comes
Well she caws my name

EASTERN LINE (COULAM)

Goin’ down the Eastern Line, we’re goin’ (Going down)
Goin’ down the Eastern Line, we’re goin’ (Going down)
We’re taking time and seeking signs, we’re goin’ (Going down)
Goin’ down the Eastern Line, we’re goin’ (Going down)

Then all of a sudden two sparks from the oven
Set light to the side of the train and smoke went
Choke to the throats and the fire spread right on
Down the Eastern Line, down the Eastern Line

Burnin’ down the Eastern Line, we’re burnin’ (Burnin’ down)
Burnin’ down the Eastern Line, we’re burnin’ (Burnin’ down)
With scraping squeals of blazing wheels, we’re burnin’ (Burnin’ down)
Burnin’ down the Eastern Line, we’re burnin’ (Burnin’ down)

Then all of a sudden either ten or a dozen
Elephants raised their trunks to salute and shoot water
On the fire on the flame and it died and the train went
Down the Eastern Line, down the Eastern Line

And everyone was happy
To live another day
And then we started thinking
In a different kind of way
A notion was put forward
That everyone one thought fine
To turn the train around
And climb back up the Eastern Line

Climbin’ up the Eastern Line, we’re climbin’ (Climbin’ up)
Climbin’ up the Eastern Line, we’re climbin’ (Climbin’ up)
Driving high and on the rise, we’re climbin’ (Climbin’ up)
Climbin’ up the Eastern Line, we’re climbin’ (Climbin’ up)

Then all of as sudden nearly half of the engine
Fell right through the floor and the train stopped climbing
And the weight of the freight sent us all a-rolling back
Down the Eastern Line, down the Eastern Line

Down the Eastern Line

HEAD FULL OF RAIN(2008)

BAD SOLUTION (TINDALL)

Well I, am cursed to the sea
Nothing’s gonna stop me
Well I, you know I’m livin’ off the land
Nothing’s gonna stop me

I gotta bad solution

Yeah I, you know I’m living off the land
Come on baby take my hand
Well I, you know I’m flying on a plane
And I ain’t comin’ down ’till the heavens they rain

I gotta bad solution
Yeah I got a bad solution

ONE NIGHT STAND (TINDALL)

I met her down, met her down in old Amsterdam
She was crawlin’ to the bar, I was already livin’ there
I said I love you, I love everything that you say
Well there’s one strange thing, I’ll never understand
She solves all her problems with a one night stand

Met her bones, broken by the rain
She said come sunrise, it’s gonna pour again
And I love you, I love everything that you say
Well there’s one strange thing, I’ll never understand
She solves all her problems with a one night stand

We’ve been down, for being strange in the passengers eye
But in the end, we’ll sell our little demons for the piece of the sky
And I love you, I love everything that you say
Well there’s one strange thing, I’ll never understand
She solves all her problems with a one night stand

ON THE GAS LINE (TINDALL)

Shake down Sunday sayin’ how do you do
The gas lines leaking like a body’s been used
Ah nothing’s ever clearer than the moon in your eyes
With those oceans stars you know you never mind dying

Still you feel your mind chasing your feet getting cold
Your shoes are leaving heaters at the edge of your door
Yeah you’re always leaving heaters at the edge of your door

Concrete line down to New Orleans
Twenty two dollars to show
I’m gonna get saved in the devils arms she’s saying
All the things that god don’t know

Crying out mercy man there’s sweat on my chin
And there’s no sense laughing at the shape that you’re in
On a tall black tree you’re hands gripping the sides
And you’re thinking of me on that big gas line

Well the man says son did you come here alone
Do you smell something living in the air by the phone
Still you’re there praying on that gas line
Hoping somebody’s got you on their better side
What if nobody’s got you on their better side

Concrete line down to New Orleans
Twenty two dollars to show
I’m gonna get saved in the devils arms she’s saying
All the things that god don’t know

Well he’s asking me questions like where’s my mind
Do I have a better way, can I speak out of line
Son ain’t you seen something burnin’ in those tress
I said you can’t start a fire from a soul on the street

Now you’ll always have something to say or prove
With a gas line leaking at the heel of your boot
And you’re always burning something
When there’s nothing left to lose

Concrete line down to New Orleans
Twenty two dollars to show
I’m gonna get saved in the devils arms she’s saying
All the things that god don’t know

CHANCES ON YOU (TINDALL)

Macau is made in wonder and a money love disease
Two types of tongue on dollar coins
Yeah you know it must be the sign of a war

I downed a pint of whiskey just to get some sleep
There were stains on the sheets
From the women beggin’ money at my door

Well all of my luck, is saved in a cup
And now I’m wasting all my chances on you

Well ya see the TECO man, fix ya for your needs
Little did I know that he was living on his high horse and doing time

Now Hong Kong harbour ladies never shuffle their feet
When all you want is labour to keep from knocking at your door

Well all of my luck, is saved in a cup
And now I’m wasting all my chances on you

Yeah we’re blinded over by the quickness of this spell
You trade in your existence for the crown on your head
That’s made out of smoke

Still you check your funds for something
You know there’s nothing there
They call him king of nothing always rolling, ever moving, never there

Well all of my luck, is saved in a cup
And now I’m wasting all my chances on you

TRAIN SONG (TINDALL)

I’m locomotive, on a, salty bridge
It’s a cracked white window pane that, keeps my head hid
Wasting for nothing, on a, big old train
And the barmaids eyes are leaking wrongs and horrors
From the last, small, steel town, man you know we’ve been down
Dead souls rising on the misty moon
Well she grabbed my hands, blinked my eyes
The room turned around expecting nothing but lies

Well there’s just three things that you never do riding on a train

I’ve been thinking, I still like driving
It’s the lost skin, warm hearted, burning pain, that makes you want it
Wishing for living, on a, big old train
And I walked three aisles to the corner of the car and said
Listen over here, I got something to say
But when the folks turned over I was barely alive
Thinking to myself I know nothing but lies
So I held my head, fell to the floor

Well there’s just three things that you never do riding on a train

Lost in something, but grinding rail
Gonna find me a mailbox southbound and breathe some air
Living for living, on this, big old train
But she aches my bones on another southern side blues mamma
With the bends from the rolling eye motion
Running harder and faster from the
Month down payments and the
Little line statements, all the beggars and thieves saying
Something’s going wrong with my eye dilation
And all the big eyed boys are wearing money like a mask

But I never said nothing to the man in the hat
I was shuffling cards when he made his attack
He said
Son you know I used to be living like you
Running to the devil with another kind of truth
When my feet grew old and my heart grew weak
I turned to the lord and made my lonely retreat
And because I see myself in the shining of your face
I wanna give you something that will help you start to elate
Well he grabbed my neck and we fell to the floor

There’s just three things that you never do riding on a train.

1973 (TINDALL)

Well a man with a hoof, he’s just cloppin’ around
The skin on his foot never heals
Thirty-three inches of fish-hook flesh
This carnival is real and it’s for you
Well these bad kind of blues

Yeah the year is ’49 or is it something more free
My god you know it feels like 1973

There’s a whiskey glass hangin’ from each of our eyes
The lord says put em down, put em down, put em down
The devil don’t say put em down and as for you
Well these are bad kind of blues

Yeah the year is ’49 or is it something more free
My god you know it feels like 1973

Well I say to the girl with the wandering eye
I really don’t mind this place
With blood dripping down from the snake in her mouth she says
Boy you like living this way
I say I do
I love those bad kind of blues

Yeah the year is ’49 or is it something more free
My god you know it feels like 1973

BIRD ON A WIRE (TINDALL)

Well I know nothing’s changing like a bird on a wire
Seven days sleeping just to wait out a fire
And you say one thing when moving from sleep
I’m on my own legs, I’m your only

We’ll meet beside the mouth of a river I’ve seen
Let’s stand inside the waking of a slow desert dream
When you start to find the cure you know they change the disease

I’m on my own legs, I’m your only

Well you say to me
And I say to you
Leave me if I’m standing like a fool

AM I WRONG (TINDALL)

The sun won’t shine
Baby am I wrong
Next time I’m gonna get it right
Baby am I strong
The sun will never shine another day

I’m fading away
And I think you can see
That there ain’t too much good lovin’ left in me

I’m gonna do
What I should of done
A long time
A long time ago
I’m gonna run
I’m gonna run
I’m gonna run, run, run just as far as I can

BENDING TO THE DEVIL (TINDALL)

Lord Lord
Your Lord he’s got lies

Lord Lord
Well he’s been meeting with the devil and I

He said he’s sorry
He told me a thousand times

He said he’s sorry
For meeting with the devil and I

Bending to the devil baby

Well don’t you try to change me
Something’s gonna get ya in time

Said don’t try to change me
Well we’ve been bending to the devil in time

Bending to the devil this time

KENTING SUNSET (TINDALL)

She started walking the day she turned nine
It took a little long but now she feels more alive
She knows it’s just her family bones

We fell on providence and each broke a leg
It’s a humble dark alley for a man with a cane
We know he walks here alone

Well it’s not the right time, but the sun’s going down

He’s got a girl, mostly chinese
There’s a lot of little things, she’s starting to see
And he knows, it’s turning her off

I got some friends, thinking of me
We’re never burning something
We’re just trying to be on our own
And it’s turning them off

Well it’s not the right time, but the sun’s going down

Somebody said the fight would end soon
And we could all move home and see Devendra the fool
But we know, we got nowhere to go

Well it’s not the right time, but the sun’s going down

Yeah it’s not the right time, cause the sun’s going down
